At Minute Maid Field, the Chicago faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's duel. Elmer Dessens(3-3) finally bested his Jefferson Park counterpart, Brandon Webb(8-4), by the score of 2 to 1. Jefferson Park was unable to recover after Chicago went ahead in the 2nd inning scoring one runner utilizing 2 base hits. Jefferson Park made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across. Brad Lidge recorded the save, his 15th. Webb was the losing pitcher. He gave up 2 runs and 6 hits in 5 and 1/3 innings. 'You have to give Jefferson Park credit, they fought us tough to the end' Stan Halgas said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the victory.'
